EPC's - Frequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact us to chat over any questions you may have about our Services. For official advice on Energy Assessments, visit the goverment website.
How is an EPC performed?
Chris visits the property and will examin key items such as cavity wall, floor and loft insulation, domestic boiler, hot water tank, radiators, heating controls windows for double glazing, and so on.
He will then provide you with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), sent to you via email usually a day or two after he has seen the property. The Certificate will give you all the information you need as well as who to contact if you have any questions.
Do I need an EPC?
If you are planning to sell your home or rent it out, you do need to have an EPC to show to buyers or renters. EPC's expire after ten years. More information can be found on the government website.
Which areas do you work in? Where are you based?
We are based in North Somerset and cover all of North Somerset, Bristol, Bath and Somerset. There is no travel cost.
Do I need to prepare my home for an EPC?
It is essential that we can move around the property to see all of the elements that form part of the EPC formulation, without having to move items out of the way. Access to lofts, windows, radiators, boilers, doorways etc should be clear.
How long will it take?
On average Chris stays at the property for an hour, but it can take longer if the property is very large or more complex.
Can I book a floorplan or photos or both with an EPC?
Yes, you can book Chris to create a floorplan, take professional photos and assess the energy performance of a property all on the same visit. This saves time and money.
Can I book an Energy Assessment on a weekend or evenings?
Yes, please ask Chris for availability out of normal working hours. In most cases this is possible.
How much does it cost?
For an average sized property, the cost is £72.
